Sam (Linda Cardellini) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) report Alex missing to the police and suspect that he is trying to find his father. Kovac and Sam are especially worried because Alex is diabetic and he has forgotten his insulin. Neela (Parminder Nagra), Ray (Shane West) and Abby (Maura Tierney) struggle with their first shifts in charge of the new interns.
02. Nobody’s Baby Thursday September 29th, 2005
Ray (Shane West) attends to a surrogate mother who goes into labor prematurely after being involved in a car accident. An emotional decision must be made as a baby’s life hangs in the balance. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) encounters his estranged father and is forced to deal with his feelings from the past. Sam (Linda Cardellini) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) loom on the edge of a break-up.
03. Man With No Name Thursday October 6th, 2005
The ER is shaken up when new nurse manager, Eve (Kristen Johnston) enforces her strict and efficient new procedures. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) and Sam (Linda Cardellini) struggle to find some civility with each while working the same shift. Abby (Maura Tierney) treats a breast cancer patient who is having a hard time coming to terms with her condition.
04. Blame It On The Rain Thursday October 13th, 2005
A patient who has been in a coma for nine years suddenly awakens in the ER and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) struggles with whether he should reveal her the truth about her past. Abby (Maura Tierney) comforts Dr. Dubenko (Leland Orser) after he finds out some troubling news. New Nurse Manager Eve (Kristen Johnston “3rd Rock from the Sun”) makes waves in the ER as she implements her strict methods.

05. Wake Up Thursday October 20th, 2005
Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) gets a wake-up call when the new attending (John Leguizamo) poses as a patient to test the knowledge of doctors in the ER. Meanwhile, Kovac (Goran Visnjic) bonds with the former coma patient and contemplates bending the rules for her. A breast cancer patient convinces Abby (Maura Tierney) to get her first mammogram. Pratt’s father Charlie (Danny Glover) tries to convince his son that he has turned his life around.

06. Dream House Thursday November 3rd, 2005
Clemente (John Leguizamo), Abby (Maura Tierney) and Neela (Parminder Nagra) secretly care for a VIP patient while Dubenko (Leland Orser) tortures the staff via a robotic television camera from home. Sam (Linda Cardellini) is coerced into a management role and is given a dreadful task. Meanwhile, Pratt is visited by his half-brother, and emotions from the past remind him of his father’s (Danny Glover) abandonment.

07. The Human Shield Thursday November 10th, 2005
Neela (Parminder Nagra) gets all dolled up for Gallant’s homecoming (Sharif Atkins) and her co-workers seem to take notice but, her plans change when she receives a call from Iraq. Meanwhile, Abby (Maura Tierney) is caught in the middle between Kovac (Goran Visnjic) and Clemente (John Leguizamo) when they disagree on how to save a patients life. When a cop and a little girl become victims of a shoot out, Neela is plagued with the decision of whether or not she should save the shooters life.

08. Two Ships Thursday November 17th, 2005
Neela (Parminder Nagra) thinks that she is going on a routine ambulance ride-along with Gates, (Guest Star, John Stamos), and soon finds herself in the middle of an emergency, attending to a plane crash site where many are injured and trapped inside a burning building. Meanwhile, the ER opens to trauma victims of the plane crash and Sam (Linda Cardellini) struggles with an executive decision that could cost her her job. Neela’s (Parminder Nagra) bravery has won the respect of her co-workers and especially Gates the ambulance driver but, her day is not over when she receives a surprise.

09. I Do Thursday December 1st, 2005
Back from Iraq, Gallant (Sharif Atkins) surprises Neela (Parminder Nagra) by telling her he wants to take their relationship to the next level. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) and Clemente (John Leguizamo) vie for the same job making the tension between them even thicker. Meanwhile, Sam (Linda Cardellini) convinces a patient’s mother to get the medical attention that her son desperately needs. Morris (Scott Grimes) shocks everyone when he stands up to Weaver (Laura Innes) during a medical procedure.

10. All About Christmas Eve Thursday December 8th, 2005
After a little girl is mistakenly shot, Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) and Weaver (Laura Innes) desperately try to bring her back to life. Meanwhile, nurse Haleh (Yvette Freeman)) holds her annual choir tryouts and everyone is surprised at who is chosen to sing the solo. Eve (Kristen Johnston) crosses the line with a patient and causes management to get involved. Abby (Maura Tierney) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) exchange Christmas gifts but, Abby’s (Maura Tierney) gift to him is bigger than expected.

11. If Not Now Thursday January 5th, 2006
Abby (Maura Tierney) continues to struggle with the decision of whether or not she is ready to become a mother. Meanwhile, Neela (Parminder Nagra) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) help a religious teenager weigh all her pregnancy options. Ray (Shane West) has an opportunity of a lifetime with his band and everyone is shocked at the outcome. Clemente’s (John Leguizamo) past is starting to catch up with him when the cops come looking for him in the ER.

12. Split Decisions Thursday January 12th, 2006
With Clemente (John Leguizamo) missing in action, Dr. Dubenko vollunteers to take the dayshift but ends up feeling overwhelmed. Ray (Shane West) is put in a very awkward situation when his young former girlfriend comes into the ER with serious abuse-related injuries. With a baby in their future, Kovac (Goran Visnijic) and Abby (Maura Tierney) venture out for some baby shopping. Meanwhile, Neela (Parminder Nagra) recieves word that she has been selected for the surgery elective that she had been hoping for.

13. Body and Soul Thursday February 2nd, 2006
When an abandoned ALS (Lou Gerigs disease) patient arrives at the ER, many of the doctors are shocked when they recognize the former medical school professor (Guest star James Woods. Abby (Maura Tierney) and Kovac (Goran Visnijic) try to understand Dr. Lennox’s wishes for his life after the professor is struck with pneumonia as well as the nerve degenerating disease. As the disease continues to cripple Dr. Lennox, Abby struggles with the possibility of losing the professor that was responsible for making her a doctor. After a controversial decision to attach a trake to help Dr. Lennox breathe, Abby and Fran Guest star (Ally Walker) wonder if they made the right decision.

14. Quintessence Of Dust Thursday February 9th, 2006
Dr. Clemente (John Leguizamo) and his girlfriend Jodie seem to be living the highlife together, when they are suddenly interrupted by Jodie’s husband Bobby (Shea Whigham). When Jodie threatens divorce, Bobby takes matters into his own hands. Abby (Maura Tierney) and Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) anxiously await the test results determining the health of their unborn baby. Meanwhile, when Dr. Pratt is put on the auction block for a bachelor charity event, everyone is surprised when a man wins the bid.

15. Darfur Thursday March 2nd, 2006
Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) is joined by Dr. Dakarai (Eamonn Walker) in the Sudanese desert as they work to treat hundreds of disease infested, and famine stricken people. Carter and Dr. Dakarai must spring into action to save a woman who was raped by a militant group. Meanwhile, back at County General, Dr. Clemente (John Leguizamo) returns from New Jersey wounded. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) and Neela (Parminder Nagra) quickly work to save a 14 year-old involved in a hit and run accident, but Pratt is infuriated when he discovers who hit the young teen.

16. Out On A Limb Thursday March 16th, 2006
Dr Weaver (Laura Innes) contemplates hip replacement surgery after she finds it hard to do her labor intensive job Meanwhile, Dr Kovac (Goran Visnjic) tries to ease Abby’s (Maura Tierney) fears about raising a child together Neela (Parminder Nagra) decides to attend a support group for military spouses but when she offers her opinions on the war, the meeting turns into a debate. After Sam (Linda Cardellini) treats a fainting victim, named Richard Elliot, (Armond Assante) she finds herself with an intriguing job offer.

17. Lost In America Thursday March 23rd, 2006
Abby (Maura Tierney) and Kovac (Goran Visnjic) desperately try to keep a 21 year-old girl (Zina Zaflow) brought into the ER with stab wounds to the neck alive while they wait for a surgeon to operate. As the young girl’s condition begins to deteriorate, Clemente (John Leguizamo) steps in and decides to try a risky procedure on the girl in order to save her life. Meanwhile, Neela (Parminder Nagra) pulls an all-nighter in preparation for a speech at a surgeon’s convention but is disappointed when her speech goes awry. Back at the ER, Ray tries to treat a suicidal man claiming to have swallowed a bottle of pills. Sam (Linda Cardellini) decides to take a part-time job with Elliot (Armand Assante) to help supplement her childcare expenses.

18. Strange Bedfellows Thursday March 30th, 2006
All is not what it seems when police bring in two teenagers involved in a car accident. Abby (Maura Tierney) and Morris (Scott Grimes) struggle to figure out what is wrong with the unconscious girl, while police try to interrogate the other teen. Meanwhile, Neela (Parminder Nagra) gets a visit from her in-laws (Guest stars Ernie Hudson and Sheryl Lee Ralph) and finds out some troubling news. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) tells Abby that he plans to go to Africa and help Carter (Noah Wyle), but when he realizes Abby is not crazy about the idea, he decides to send someone else in his place. Sam (Linda Cardellini) starts her new job with Elliot (Guest star Armand Assante) and is starting to love the the perks.

19. No Place To Hide Thursday April 27th, 2006
Abby (Maura Tierney) senses that something is not quite right when a grandmother (Guest star Diane Ladd) and her 12 year-old grandaughter are brought into the ER. Sam’s (Linda Cardellini) imprisoned ex-husband Steve (Garret Dillahunt) is brought into the ER and all the doctors assume that he is faking, but when further tests prove otherwise, Steve finds his way to the operating table. Meanwhile, tensions run high when Morris (Scott Grimes) and Albright (Dahlia Salem) argue over a patient, but when Morris denies a surgery, Albright quickly changes her tune. Meanwhile, Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) heads to Africa to help Carter (Noah Wyle) and quickly realizes how difficult life will be.

20. There Are No Angels Here Thursday May 4th, 2006
Dr. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) settles into his new job in Darfur but is troubled by astounding number of people needing care. A sheik and his pregnant wife come into Ramalah Camp looking for treatment. Carter (Noah Wyle) and Dakarai (Eamonn Walker) work on fixing the man’s gunshot wound, but they are quickly interrupted by government officials trying to arrest the man. As Carter works on delivering the wife’s baby, it is apparent that the mother is suffering from delivery complications. Pratt and Dakarai are forced to make journey at night to a hospital in El Fashir at the risk of getting stopped by the Janjaweed millitant group. Meanwhile, Debbie (Mary McCormack) tries to convince Dr. Dakarai to seek proper treatment for his medical condition.

21. The Gallant Hero & The Tragic Victor Thursday May 11th, 2006
Freshly back from Darfur, Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) struggles to get the real story when two abused boys come into the ER with their injured father. Neela (Parminder Nagra) is nervous when she is urgently called up to Dr. Dubenko’s (Leland Orser) office, but is quickly relieved when she gets the good news. Meanwhile, two U.S. Army officers enter the ER, and the staff worries that it might be bad news. Clemente (John Leguizamo) comes into the ER acting very strange and after putting some of his patients in jeopardy, Kovac (Goran Visnjic) forces him to take a break. After bickering for months, Morris (Scott Grimes) and Albright (Dahlia Salem) can’t seem to fight the sexual tension between them.

22. Twenty-One Gun Thursday May 18th, 2006
Chaos strikes when injured jailbirds come into County General looking to escape their prison time. With the help of an accomplice posing as an E.M.T., the fugitives force one of the nurses to become a part of the melee. As the gunmen get more and more desperate to make it out of the hospital, they decide to resort to extreme measures and Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) unknowingly puts himself in harms way. Gunshots ring out in the lobby and Abby (Maura Tierney) slips to the ground. Meanwhile, Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) tries to persuade Neela (Parminder Nagra) as she attends to Gallant’s concerned parents (guest stars Ernie Hudson, “Ghostbusters,” and Sheryl Lee Ralph, “Designing Women”).
